#UCL: #INTLIV: 5 Talking Points from Inter Milan 0-2 Liverpool

Inter Milan versus Liverpool was one of the games football lovers were looking forward to in the Round of 16. The game which was played at the San Siro stadium on Wednesday, February 16th, 2022.

(1) Inter Milan Cancel Liverpool Pressing tactics:

Liverpool are known for pressing their opponents with strengths from their wing-backs but Inter Milan seem to have watched a lot of the Reds clip as did stop any threat coming from Liverpool’s wing-backs and their forward players.

(2) Both teams were very cautious:

The cancellation of the away goal rule seems to have reduced the style of play from clubs in the Round of 16. Both teams were cautious despite the fact they wanted to play attacking football but they were putting more players in their defence rather than attack.

(3) Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane:

The duo seems to be on a hangover from the final of the African Cup of Nations as they are yet to find the back of the net since returning from Cameroon. If Liverpool will be the quater-final of the UEFA Champions League then they must be stand and counted when the second leg is played at Anfield.

(4) Introduction of Luis Diaz:

The Liverpool new signing from Porto changed the game after coming up in th second half. The Colombian gave a lot of positivity in the attack line for the Reds. He might be getting a place in the starting eleven from Jurgen Klopp when both teams meet in the second leg.

( 5) Bobby Firmino:

The Brazilian’s goal midway into the second half gave Liverpool confidence going into the rest of the game. He scored connecting from a corner played in by Andrew Robertson. Firmino was introduced by Jurgen Klopp in the second half of the game to replace Diogo Jota. Mohamed Salah sealed the game by scoring the second goal of the game.
