Prolific Nigerian rapper and performer Ibiyemi Sulaimon, popularly known as Seriki, has opened up on how money might lead to the ruin of the Nigerian music industry.

There is no doubt that the Nigerian music scene is currently experiencing a wave it has never experienced before. However, Seriki warns that the money factor might lead to its sudden decline.

Speaking with Jahbless on his podcast, Original Intelligence, the bar-for-bar rapper made it known that a lot of gatekeepers in the Nigerian music industry are now too focused on money instead of talent. According to Seriki, a typical media personality in today’s music industry is bent on being paid before they can air a song, a tradition that was different way back.

On those premises, the hip-hop head raised the alarm that if the tradition of placing miostly money over talent continues, the Nigerian music industry will end up with too many mediocre artistes.

The graduate of Industrial Safety & Environmental Engineering also went on to speak about his future, his upcoming project titled “Sule,” and other interesting topics.
